Bucket Lists
Aside
People make Bucket Lists of things they want to accomplish before they die. Some goals are big, for example, travelling around the world or overcoming fears and some goals are small, for example, smiling more.
The phrase “bucket list”comes from the idiom to kick the bucket, meaning “to die,” which has been in the language since at least 1785.
What is on your Bucket List?
Watch a clip from The Bucket List to get some ideas. Remember some examples from the classroom:Michael talking about whale watching, Sandra about skydiving, and Paul about riding roller-coasters.

Alice in Wonderland: Which way should I go from here?
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
by Lewis Carroll
“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?” Alice asked.
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.
“I don’t much care where—” said Alice.
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.
“As long as I get somewhere,” Alice added as an explanation.
“Oh, you’re sure to do that,” said the Cat, “if you only walk long enough.”
Why is it important to have goals? Alice has an answer.
